PROJECT DETAILS
Hoa Phat Group is Vietnam’s leading industrial conglomerate, operating in sectors including iron and steel, agriculture, real estate, home appliances and shipping. Hoa Phat Shipping Joint Stock Company, a group member, aims to build a fleet of 15–20 vessels to support logistics, especially for its steel production complex. On July 2, 2025, the group launched its largest bulk carrier, “The Momentum” (110,842 DWT), marking a key step in fleet expansion and production acceleration.
THE CHALLENGES
During vessel dry docking, the owner faced strict requirements for fuel savings, reduced speed loss and performance maintenance during long idle periods. The selection process was highly competitive, with major players including offering advanced antifouling technologies.
THE RESULTS
NPV (Nippon Paint Marine) proposed its unique Antifouling FASTAR XI, highlighting advanced features such as nano domain technology, including HydroSmoothXT and Hydrogel Watertrapping A/F. FASTAR XI performance offers up to 60 days of bio-adhesion prevention, fuel savings up to 14.1%, and an average speed loss of only 1.2% over 60 months. Close communication and technical consultation informed Hoa Phat Shipping JSC’s decision to adopt FASTAR XI for the docking of “The Momentum.”
