PROJECT DETAILS
In response to recent environmental initiatives, Shoei Kisen requested a coating solution that supported enhanced fuel efficiency as well as guaranteeing the continued protection of the marine environment. Following consultation with their technical team, Nippon Paint Marine proposed “FASTAR XII,” which provides improved fuel savings compared to conventional antifouling paints, while delivering advanced fouling prevention performance. Although various challenges arose before adoption, Shoei Kisen committed to applying FASTAR XII whilst commenting on the quality of the support they recieved from the team.

THE CHALLENGES
This vessel had been sailing within a number of challenging operational environments throughout the globe that could potentially affect its performance, increasing the risk of hull fouling. To address this challenge, Nippon Paint Marine recommended FASTAR XII as the ideal solution. FASTAR XII incorporates both hydrophilic and hydrophobic nanodomain structures and has a proven track record of delivering advanced antifouling performance across various operating profiles, guranteeing optimal performance, even under demanding operational conditions. To highlight the product’s capabilities, a presentation was conducted for the vessel’s operator, Ocean Network Express, with support from Nippon Paint Marine’s technical and marketing teams.
THE RESULTS
Our customer sought a hull coating that delivers superior fuel efficiency performance, throughout a variety of challenging operational conditions. This is why the Nippon Paint Marine team proposed FASTAR XII, which supports greater fuel savings than conventional antifouling coatings while providing high fouling resistance. The decisive factor in the coating’s adoption was due to the collective effort of our domestic sales team as well as our Singapore sales members, technical staff, and marketing team. Together we provided a detailed and impactful product presentation which showcased the significant benefits that FASTAR XII could provide for the customer’s fleet. This was a truly company-wide effort and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Shoei Kisen through this project.
